Getting Ready for Acapulco

We spent the weekend getting packed for Acapulco! Brooke has been counting down the days and is very excited. Today when I mentioned going to Acapulco, she said, "I thought we were going to Mexico." I explained the difference between countries, states and cities and she just said, "Mom, that doesn't make any sense." Apparently I didn't explain it very well.

My last day of work will be this Friday (Jan. 11), and I won't be going back until the end of March. Once we get back from Mexico I'll have a few days at home to get things organized and to do some special things with Brooke before the surgery.

I have vowed not to think about the surgery while on vacation. I just want to live in the moment and enjoy our time together. The holidays were very emotional for me, and I found myself worrying about the surgery more than usual - waking up at night thinking about it, etc. In the last few days I've found I'm more at peace with it. I have connected with a couple more people who had the same surgery - one had it 13 years ago and the other a year ago - and both are doing well now.

Thanks to everyone who has posted comments to my blog, sent me e-mails, cards, etc. Your support and kindness mean more than you know. On days when I'm feeling stressed or down, I re-read your notes and find strength in them. Jeff and I talk daily about how fortunate we are to have so many wonderful people in our lives! Everyone has been great and we truly appreciate it!

Hi! My name is Kay and I have just tonight started a blog so that maybe I can reach out to others that have AN's &/or questions. I choose the same page as you for my blog - I just think that is kind of neat! Hopefully by now, you are in Acapulco having the start of a wonderful vacation!! I had an AN 12 years ago when I was 25 - it was the size of a man's fist and had pushed my brain stem all the way over to the left side of my head! I was just a dumb blonde and didn't realize how severe all this really was!! :o) Back then, I was only presented w/ 1 option & that was surgery. I do have some residual effects, I won't lie to you, BUT I have a wonderful life and have gone on to have my 3 precious girlies!! I would love to visit w/ you. My blog is threecurlygirlies.blogspot.com and I will include my address too! Good luck & hope to hear from you soon!!

Hi Shalla,

I am just figuring out how to leave comments at your website. I am not very technically advanced with this stuff! Can't wait to hear about your vacation to Mexico!

Love & prayers,
DeAnne

Shalla~
I know that you are super busy and just returning from what i hope was a wonderful and relaxing vacation (however I really wonder if vacations can be relaxing when kiddos go!). In the week that you have been gone, I have been in the ANA Forum alot and kind of had some revelations and would really like to talk to you. Please contact me if you would like: my email is d5stacy@sbcglobal.net and I even would love to chat with you on the phone. Happy Thursday!
