Hearing

Shalla continues to improve. The pain and nausea has been controlled through medication. She was looking so much better tonight than this morning. She has been eating and able to move around in bed. She has not sat all the way up, or been up walking, but that is on the schedule for tomorrow. There were several naps taken today and 2 cups of ice cream. The ENT surgeon stopped in tonight and we had a good chat. He said the tumor was positioned in a way that gave them good access and said they had good responses from both the auditory and facial nerves throughout the surgery. The best news tonight is that Shalla was able to carry on a phone conversation in her right ear! It was not as clear as her left ear, but that was also the case before the surgery. We are very excited about this as there was a slim chance of keeping her hearing, but it was the reasoning for choosing the retrosigmoid. She will be doing a hearing test on Monday to see where it actually is compared to her pre-op test. Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
