Today is my first post since the surgery, and I can't tell you how lucky I feel. I took a little walk today, had my first shower and I completed a fairly positive hearing test. I have quite a bit of fluid on both ear drums so it's hard for me to believe I'm hearing as well as I am. But the tests are very promising and the doctors feel once the fluid on my ear drums clears up (fluid is pretty normal) my hearing should be what it was prior to the surgery. I've been told for a tumor of my size that my hearing is really good and the surgeons say, "I'm very lucky."
Everyone here has been so kind to me. I was pretty nervous after having said goodbye to Jeff and was waiting to go into the surgery and the nurses were a great comfort.
Also, a huge thanks to all of you for your prayers and kindness. Some of you I've never even met and you've been so supportive! It's really not possible to go through something like this and come out unchanged.
I still have a long ways to go, but I hope to go home on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm still pretty unstable with walking and getting up, my head is filled with a lot of fluid and I have some bruising around my eye. I think about these things and have to gently remind myself that someone was digging around in my brain for six hours, and I'll need time to heal.

Hey Shalla! Good to see your last post. I'm so happy you are doing so well, not that I doubted you wouldn't. I won't call and bug you when you get home, when you feel like talking, give me a call. Take care of you!
Love,
Stacy :o)
Shalla-
It is so great to hear that you will be going home soon! You are right, you need to give yourself the time to heal. It may sound crazy to you now, but I look forward to being on your team for the Lakeathalon events this summer! I think you,Carissa and Kyle are already the champions! Keep positive thoughts! Love, Amy
Shalla~
SO wonderful that you are already able to post on your own - way to go!! SO excited about your hearing! Remember that you will still have days that aren't as great and that is OK -- take things as they come and don't push yourself. You deserve to take your time, you've been through a LOT (& to tell you the truth, I think it's kind of crummy!!):o) You'll be better off in the long run & better able to take care of sweet daughter!!
Still in my prayers!
K
Shalla!!!
It's so good to see you on here!!! Scott & I are so excited for how well things are going and will continue our prayers during the healing ahead. I laughed aloud when Jeff wrote that you'd had ice cream twice already ... that's my girl! I got a Ben & Jerry's recipe book from a fellow ice cream addict and am going to whip up a yummy confection for you to enjoy. You deserve every morsel of goodness ... we are so proud of you and in awe of your strength! We are so happy to hear you're in good hands and can't wait to hear that you're home, and I'm sure sweet Brooke can't either!!! You have the best family in the world!!! :)
Love,
Natalie (and Scott & Ty)
