Three Days Until Surgery

We had a great time in Mexico! The weather was gorgeous with highs near 90 each day and the lows around 75 at night. We did a lot of relaxing, swimming, playing on the beach, boogie boarding, shopping and we took a boat ride and saw the famous Acapulco cliff divers. It would have been a perfect vacation if Jeff and I hadn’t been sick for about 24 hours or so from food poisoning. Even with the food poisoning we had a great vacation and I am so grateful for the time together.

Jeff and I will spend most of the day down at Mayo on Thursday for pre-op appointments, and I check in for surgery at 6 a.m. on Friday. I’m trying to make the most of my time this week. Yesterday I spent the day shopping, having lunch and getting a massage with some girlfriends – it was awesome! Today Brooke and I had a girls day at Mall of America which included lunch at Rain Forest CafĂ©, a trip to Build-a-Bear and Camp Snoopy and a little shopping. We had a very nice day together.

I pick my mom up at the train station early tomorrow morning and she will be staying with us until further notice (for at least a week once a return home from the hospital, maybe two). I’m actually feeling more calm and relaxed about everything than I thought I would at this point. I’m expecting to be blind-sided by a complete emotional breakdown some time between now and Friday – most likely after all the appointments on Thursday. If and when it happens, I figure I’m entitled:)

So many people have connected with us this week to wish us well and we REALLY appreciate that. I know lots of people are praying for us and thinking of us. With so much support and positive energy being sent our way I know everything will be fine.

Jeff will be updating my blog from here on out, while I’m busy feeling crummy and trying to heal. I hope to be sharing updates with you sooner than expected, but until then I’ll leave it up to my very capable and wonderful husband. He continues to be my rock through all of this. Please send positive vibes his way on Friday because he will have the toughest job that day – waiting.

Shalla~
I'm don't know you, but I am continually lifting you up in prayer. I know this is a tough battle, but you WILL overcome! One of the things I have discovered over the past couple of weeks is that it is just nice to communicate w/ someone who TRULY knows what you are going through. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you ever need someone to commiserate with!! (& I will totally understand if you don't want to!)
Good Luck!!

Shalla -
I'm so glad to hear that you and your family had a wonderful time in Acapulco. Fun in the sun, rest and relaxation are exactly what the doctor ordered after a hellish last few months. Even though you may be nervous, you're entering into this surgery under the best circumstances. I'm sure you're taking solace in the fact that you're in the best hands in the world at the Mayo. I'm confident that everything will go smoothly, and know that you have the will power and determination to make a full recovery. We're all pulling for you here at BBY. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless!
