I haven’t shared any updates in over a week because I’ve been in bed with the worst case of the flu I’ve ever had. I got it on Valentine’s Day and was in bed for a week. By Tuesday Jeff took me to the doctor and they hooked me up to an IV to replenish my fluids and they gave me something for the nausea. Things have been better since then, but I’m still not completely over it. I hear there are lots of people sick right now. I’m sure it hit me harder than it normally would because my resistance was down due to the surgery.
In spite of the flu, I think my recovery is still progressing. I’m off the pain meds, and I’m just taking Tylenol regularly. Some of the pressure and fluid in my head has cleared and my hearing still seems good. I have to admit it feels like my recovery is moving at a snail’s pace, but I keep remembering what the doctor said about this being a three-month recovery and that the clock has just started ticking for me. This whole thing has been a test of my patience.
Jeff is doing a great job of keeping our household running. I know he’s tired and stressed, but he never complains. Hopefully in the next week or two, I’ll be able to help out more.
I hope you are all keeping warm. I have to admit, it’s not a bad winter to be tucked in bed for a few weeks.

So sorry to hear that you've been fighting the flu on top of everything else. Hopefully you're at the tail-end of it and will only have to focus on your recovery.
You're right - this winter is the perfect time to be tucked in bed recovering from your surgery. By the time you're feeling back to normal, it'll be spring! Perfect weather to get out and about. Until then, take it easy!

Four out of five of us have had the flu now -- and of course, no one could have it at the same time so I've been stuck in the house for 2 weeks!!! Hopefully Emee won't succumb! I'm so sorry you've been sick -- it is bad enough to recover from brain surgery, you certainly didn't need the flu too!!
I know it seems like forever, but eventually it will start getting better & then one day you'll wake up and realize that everything is pretty much like it used to be...and then you have to wonder when that happened!! :o)

Hi Shalla,
Heidi just sent me the link to your blog. I'm so happy to hear you're healing nicely and the surgery went better than you expected (in terms of the hearing loss). I'm sorry to hear you've got the flu - hopefully you were still able to get good rest.
We're thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers. Baby Maura says "hi" and that she can't wait to meet you. :)
Take care and I hope to see you soon!
Love,
Alissa, Jeremy and Maura
